Bahia Street’s educational programs work to free shantytown girls from the terrible poverty they are born into. Ninety percent of our students come from households with no father, and their mothers are forced to eke out a desperate living, often as a barely-paid domestic servant working long hours with no child care.
Your gift keeps girls in school and off the streets and provides them with support, counseling, and mentorship. It provides them with a hot lunch and a place to take a shower every day — most do not eat at home, and their cardboard-and-plastic shacks do not have showers. By honoring a newlywed couple with a donation, you give these girls joy and hope and the chance for a better life. What a long-lasting and far-reaching wedding gift for your family or friends!

It’s easy to donate online, using the link on the right of the donation page. All you need is a credit card — MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express (payments are processed by PayPal). Please include the gift recipient’s name, address, and the phrase “wedding gift” in the “Message to Sender” field, and we’ll send the card out right away.
