Volunteering with Bahia Street

Brasilfest 2008 Long time volunteers Meps, Barry, and Jewel Brasilfest 2008

Much of Bahia Street’s work is done by energetic and committed volunteers. These volunteers manage events in the community, throw house parties to promote Bahia Street, and provide a diversity of services that support Bahia Street’s mission. Volunteers are vital to allowing Bahia Street to minimize administrative expenses and send most of the money raised directly to Brazil. To volunteer, please call 206-633-1724 or email us at: info@bahiastreet.org In the Seattle area, we can especially use help with the following areas:

  • Planning events
  • Working at events
  • Fundraising
  • Hosting gatherings or dinners
  • Coordinating volunteers
  • “Technology” (maintaining office computers/network)
  • Or any other area!

If you live outside the Seattle area, we’d still like to work with you! We especially need help with fundraising and getting the word out. Web-based work can also be done from anywhere. Please call or e-mail and we can discuss what would work best for both you and Bahia Street.

Internships

Since our inception, Bahia Street’s Seattle office has worked with interns from several universities. We are proud of our interns, some of whom have gone on to receive excellent scholarships and grants and have been admitted into top graduate schools. If you are a student interested in internship opportunities, please contact our Seattle office for more information. Please note that interns need to be available for 8-10 hours per week between the hours of 9am-3pm on Mondays-Thursdays.
